Topic 7 Dyadic Relationship, Followership and Delegation
Assalamualaikum and good day, brilliant people !
Relationship is the way in which two or more people or things are connected. This topic we focus more on relationship between leaders and followers. Our lecturer share a quote from Alexander the Great which is "I'm not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I'm afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion". Although its sound funny but the message behind it so powerful. Its means that even though you have a group of very talented teammates and its being led by a not good leader, we can expect the outcome is not good as we expected as the leader have a crucial role in a society.
In my understanding, theory of dyadic leader relationship is about the leader's behaviour that being affected by their followers.
Let me share with you the cycle of Dyadic relationship Leader-Follower Relationships develop over time.
- Stage 1: Leaders and followers are like strangers. Usually here they observe each other.
- Stage 2: Leaders and followers are acquainted. The leaders give task to see on how their followers responds to it.
- Stage 3: Already reach maturity for both parties. The leaders now can decide with behavior that they can use for certain group of followers.
In-group and out-group followers...Is all based on the follower's behavior, performances. In-group people can be out-group people and vice versa. There are a lot of reasons on why that happened. A good leader will try to improve his/her people's performances. They will try to get know their follower's problems, give some advices and guide them to be a better follower.
Adios my brilliant people.......
